Nordic Fintech Highlights – June
July is here, and hopefully summer too. We’re halfway through the year, and as usual, we’re wrapping up the month with your Nordic fintech highlights.
Funding rounds are heating up, and core banking systems are getting cooler. And depending on where you’re spending your July, if it’s too hot or too cold to head outside, you can always dive into our Digital Banking Academy. There’s plenty to explore, from free intros to deep-dive courses.
June updates
Funding
This month Finland was leading the way as Aibidia raised a solid $28M, complemented by Finance Key’s €3M round. Elsewhere in the Nordics, two entrepreneurial platforms made headlines: Polar, a new marketplace and payments venture by former Shopify exec Birk Jernström, secured $10M in funding, while Techarena raised €1M to expand its European fundraising platform.
Banks
It was a vibrant month on the banking front, with several players partnering with or acquiring fintechs to boost their digital capabilities. LF Bank acquired savings platform SAVR, Aktia outsourced its PSD2 interface to Crosskey, and both Marginalen Bank and Innovation Norway selected Mambu to modernise their core systems.
