May updates

May was a relatively quiet month in Nordic fintech, marked by subdued activity overall. Notably, only two funding rounds occurred. Compliance-related developments and payment solutions continued to capture attention.

Partnerships

Froda maintained its momentum by securing a notable partnership with Finland’s wamo. Payments remained a dominant theme, highlighted by Yabie’s collaboration with Worldpay, Adyen joining forces with Tink, Bits partnering with Mastercard, and Nordic Initiative aligning with Nexo Standards.

Banks

Nordic banks remained prominently featured, reporting solid yet slightly lower Q1 results. Tietoevry notably strengthened its presence in Norway, by signing one more banking platform deal in the region. Meanwhile, other Nordic banks engaged in new fintech partnerships focused on wealth management, payments, and compliance. Compliance concerns also kept several banks across the region in the spotlight.

Launches

Enfuce introduced the Fortitude Pledge, a compliance and security initiative aimed at fully eliminating financial crime risks in their transactions. Verified expanded its portfolio with AML Managed Services, complementing its technology-based solutions. Vipps MobilePay joined the EuroPA alliance, enabling cross-border money transfers between Nordic users and various European countries.
