Nordic Fintech Highlights – April 2025

Nordic Fintech Highlights – April

May is here, and it comes with two things the Nordics take seriously: Eurovision and fintech strategy. While Europe gets ready for Eurovision next week, we are also preparing for the Nordic Fintech Summit, the region’s main stage for financial innovation.

And just like Eurovision, the Nordic Fintech Summit comes with its own side program worth tuning into. It all begins with intimate roundtable discussions and reaches its high point with the legendary Karaoke Party, where Eurovision songs are sure to make an appearance.

And what is the perfect way to end the week? Of course, with a Morning Swim and Bada Bastu sauna session.

April updates

Funding

Fintech funding activity picked up noticeably this month. Leading the way, SME financing specialist Froda raised €20 million to expand its embedded lending services. In addition, several early-stage deals were announced, including three notable insurtech rounds, indicating increased investor appetite.

Partnerships

Tietoevry continued to build momentum in Norway, securing multiple new deals with local banks and reinforcing its stronghold in the region. Meanwhile, the payments sector remains active, with companies forming new partnerships across tech stacks, particularly in account-to-account (A2A) payments, which continue to attract investment and innovation.

Banks

Nordic banks faced headwinds from ongoing market volatility, driven by tariff tensions and shifts in interest rate policy. Despite the turbulence, Q1 earnings were solid, and stock prices rebounded by the end of the month. Notably, Danske Bank announced a new partnership with Swedish ESG software provider Position Green, highlighting the sector’s continued focus on sustainability.
