It’s time for the third highlights of 2024 – March saw a decrease in the number of funding rounds, both compared to the previous month and March 2023, meanwhile, the number of new partnerships increased from February. March in brief

Let’s unwrap what happened in fintech and finance in the Nordics in March. You may also want to check out our podcast with Fintech Daydreaming, where we dive deep into a few specific monthly topics.

Firstly, we want to extend congratulations to Epassi, DraiviFair Collection, Aprila Bank, Fairlo, Anyfin, DBT Capital, and Bomae for making it to FT 1000 – Europe’s fastest-growing companies according to Financial Times.

Funding

The month was quiet in terms of funding rounds – there was a significant drop both in the size and amount of rounds when compared to March 2023.

RegTech and Financial Software categories gathered a majority of the funding rounds, while Digital Banking was left with none.

Iceland’s Kuratech and Norway’s Finterai are among eight early-stage startups selected for the Tenity Incubation Program.

 

Partnerships

Swedish companies continue strong with new partnerships.

Payments continue the hot streak in terms of attracting partners.

Banks

Danske Bank continues their investment in tech partnerships – this time cloud – with a multiyear deal with AWS.

IKEA continues its transformation to the financial sector with the acquisition of Ikano Bank through Ingka Investments.
