March in brief

March was a relatively steady month in Nordic fintech, with modest funding activity, several strategic acquisitions, and a notable rise in new partnerships. Only a few companies Kosli, PayZlip, and SparkReceipt secured new capital. Most of the momentum came from corporate developments and market expansion. The month also saw Tap to Pay on iPhone roll out across Finland, driven by a wave of launches from major payment providers.

M&A

Mergers and acquisitions featured a few significant moves. Euronext acquired Visma’s Admincontrol in a $398 million transaction, strengthening its position in board and governance technology. Accountor Software completed its public tender offer for Heeros Plc, while Kivra expanded its role in digital identity through the acquisition of Truid. In the ESG space, Glass Lewis acquired Esgaia to enhance its investment stewardship data offering.

Partnerships

Partnerships remained a key theme, with fifteen new collaborations announced across fintech and financial services. These focused on areas such as embedded payments, ESG reporting, and artificial intelligence, reflecting ongoing demand for specialist technologies to support financial sector transformation.

Banks

Banks and financial institutions continued their push for innovation. Tietoevry signed two five-year agreements, one with Fana Sparebank for a full suite of core banking solutions, and another with Bank Norwegian to provide a credit card platform. In addition, Nordea and OP launched their joint mobile payment service, Siirto, marking another step forward in the evolution of digital payments in Finland.
