November in brief
While Slush recently took the stage, fintech didn’t steal the spotlight this time, and the number of funding news remained small. However, Sitoo’s €26M round brought a much-needed boost to the numbers. Meanwhile, exciting updates emerged from Riksbanken and Norges Bank in the payments space, paired with a vibrant surge in mergers and acquisitions activity.
M&A
November was bustling with activity, particularly in the realm of crypto and digital assets, as Finnish NorthCrypto and Membrane found new homes, alongside Swedish Vinter. Meanwhile, the traditional finance sector also saw its share of noteworthy transactions.
Partnerships
Klarna continues to make waves with its global partnership ventures. In an exciting development, Saldo Bank has joined forces with Lunar to enhance payment efficiency and boost automation, showcasing a dynamic collaboration between two innovative neobanks.
Banks
As we move past Q3 season, banks are making headlines with new tech advancements. SEB Embedded is leveraging Thought Machine to enhance their Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) offerings, while TF Bank is partnering with US-based Nice Actimize to strengthen their anti-money laundering, financial crime, compliance, and risk solutions.
In other news, Santander faced a €100,000 fine in Finland due to inadequate advertising practices.
Have a look at the news from November below and stay tuned for more!
