September updates

After an extremely quiet August, September brought fintech activity back in full force. From funding rounds to acquisitions and bank moves, things were happening on every angle.

Funding

AI and data-driven innovation dominated the headlines. Light raised 30 million USD in a Series A round to build an AI-native finance platform automating payments, expenses, and reporting. Predicti closed 4.2 million USD to expand its predictive AI solution that helps financial institutions anticipate customer life events and deliver personalized offers. Nasdaq also led an 11 million USD round in Puro.earth, the carbon-crediting platform for engineered carbon removal.

M&A

The transaction space was busy again. Finnish Epassi expanded into Germany by acquiring Belonio. Nordic group GOT YOUR BACK entered Norway through the acquisition of Falk, a compliance and accounting specialist for fund managers. Clar Global AB announced the acquisition of Lendo Group, which operates loan comparison platforms in Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, along with Compricer and Mybanker. On the ESG side, UK-based Connect Earth acquired Stockholm’s Datia to strengthen its platform for carbon and ESG tracking.

Banks

Revolut made serious moves toward the Nordics by appointing country managers in Norway and Finland, with Sweden expected next. Handelsbanken partnered with Denodo to enhance its digital savings services and went live with a Vilja Loans SaaS delivery to modernize loan operations. Danske Bank teamed up with FinanceKey to offer real-time treasury solutions for enterprise customers.
