Nordic Fintech Snippets – December 2020

December saw the Nordic countries come together to organize satellite events to celebrate the fintech achievements within each country during the World Fintech Festival Singapore event. With hundreds of attendees, the events showcased the best Nordics have, from discussions around sustainability in finance to how venture builders in Sweden are helping new companies come about. We saw how fintech has been utilized in Norway to counter some of the struggles caused by COVID-19, and some really innovative fintech use cases from Iceland.

With the fall of Wirecard and the continuous rise of neobanking, fintech has been in the forefront of news in 2020. But if anything, we hope 2020 has proven to everyone how versatile fintech can be. Fintech occurs in the shopping, mobility, food delivery and identification platforms and applications we use on a daily basis. It helps you track your carbon footprint, save funds for retirement and simply just order that birthday present for your loved one. With the platformization of many services and products, fintech will only be more present in our lives going forward. That’s why, come New Year’s eve, we will raise our glasses for the next fintech success stories the Nordics are bound to create, in 2021.

We will begin the year with a free webinar Monetizing Open Banking: Part 2 on January 13th. Meanwhile, we wish you a happy New Year!

This is Nordic Fintech Snippets, the combined effort of all the Nordic Fintech Hubs, sharing the most important and latest news in fintech and digital finance from each country.
